BUSHENYI- The Bushenyi Ishaka municipality headteachers have shown the best adherence as per re-opening schools guidelines set.
The schools were closed in March 2020 due to an outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.
However the Ministry of Education and Sports has set 15th October as the day for re-opening for only candidate classes. Candidate classes include P.7, S.4, S.6 and finalists in higher institutions of learning.
Shortly after the inspections by the district COVID-19 Task force and the Education section led by the RDC Jolly Tibemanya and Municipal Education Officer, Dan Mugyenyi on Tuesday 13th, our reporters also moved around several schools to assess the situation.
At St Kagwa day and boarding primary school, everything was set including washing facilities, temperature guns, sick bays, isolation rooms among others.
The Headteacher Celestine Twinomigisha said they are set to open and have made enough preparations.
At Ryamabengwa Primary school, the Headmaster Nkahikayo Silver said it’s time they take life as the first priority. He wants parents to pack masks, liquid soap, sanitizers and other requirements as learner’s report back to schools.
Our reporters also visited some schools in Mitooma district which included; Mitooma Central Primary School, Rutookye Parents School, St Jerome Day and Boarding School and several others.
All these academic institutions were adequately prepared for the re-opening following the set guidelines.
