MITOOMA- The Mitooma district woman National Resistance Movement NRM Parliamentary flag bearer Juliet Agasha Bashisha says voting by lining up was the only solution to vote rigging in the country.
Bashisha who is set to be officially nominated tomorrow Thursday October 15th 2020 says the mode of voting helped Ugandans to elect the leaders of their choice irrespective of several challenges like voter bribery that also transpired during the process.
Bashisha defeated the Incumbent Hon. Jovah Kamateeka, Arinaitwe Jacqueline known as Mugore and Joan Muhaise in a 4th September 2020 tight race.
Bashisha says the mode of voting was the best ever and those who were never contented with the results are as well likely to be defeated in the general elections.
“Even if you go to polling stations, people will tell you that this one won, this one lost. I cannot stop anyone from standing as an independent candidate but they will lose”, Bashisha said.
Her comments follow information making rounds that the incumbent Hon Jovah Kamateeka is making final touches on plans to run as an independent on the same seat.
Mr. Julius Kagina, the Mitooma district NRM Administrative Secretary says standing independently after losing in party Primaries is tarnishing the name of the party.
He wants people to know that losing is normal and not to take politics as a business.
“Yes the independents from NRM are increasing and they are tarnishing our name. My appeal is that they can relax because some even stood just to remain as politicians”, he revealed
This online publication was also able to establish that Auther Atwebembeire Kazoora who lost the Ruhinda South Parliamentary flag to the incumbent Hon Captain Dononzio Kahonda is also coming back to contest as an independent candidate.
