KAMPALA- The Uganda Peoples Defence Forces have warned politicians who were assigned security to use it for the intended purpose or risk being withdrawn.
According to a Press Statement issue today September 1st 2020 an signed by the UPDF Spokesperson Brig Flavia Byekwaso, the Army has received numerous notice that some Members of Parliament who were given escorts are using them to intimidate the voters.
Brig Byekwaso said that that was contrary to what the security is intended to do and therefore should avoid it.
Brig Byekwaso therefore said that the soldiers should not be misused and when it’s found, the security will be promptly withdrawn.
She explained that the solidiers an Policemen were purely deployed to provide personal security and therefore should not be used in political intimidation.
