KAMPALA – Uganda National Examinations Board-UNEB has withheld Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examination results of 126 candidates over suspected malpractice.
This was revealed by Dan Nokrach Odong, the UNEB secretary as he presented the examination report for 2019 before the Education and Sports minister Hon. Janet Museveni.
He said these cases are a result of teachers providing assistance to the students during practicals and students copying from one another particularly in the science subjects.
Odong, however, says “the 2019 UACE examination was conducted smoothly and free from leakage”.
UNEB Executive Secretary Dan Odong has revealed that 205 candidates with special needs registered for the examinations, compared to 177 in the previous year.
“All these candidates were given the required assistance in regards to their disability and an extra 45 minutes”.
A total of 104,481 students sat for the 2019 A-Level final examinations.
According to Dan Odong, those whose results were withheld will be given a fair hearing before a final decision is taken by UNEB and the ministry of education and sports.
