KAMPALA- The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) the country’s examination body has released the dates when they will hold the end of 2020 academic year exams next year.
According to the revised schools calendar, UNEB will examine Primary Seven, senior four and Senior six candidates between March 1st to May 2021.
“Registration for PLE, UCE and UACE will be done between October 22 and November 20, 2020 whereas briefing of UCE candidates will be done on February 26th 2021. UCE examinations will be done between March 1st and April 6th 2021 whereas March 26th 2021 will be the date for briefing of PLE candidates,” the new school calendar reads.
According to the calendar, PLE will be done between March 30th and 31st 2021 whereas UACE candidates will be briefed on April 9th 2021 before they do exams between April 12th and May 3rd 2021.
The ministry however insists that the calendar is for only candidate classes and urged schools to ensure they resume studies as soon as the schools reopen so as to beat the deadlines for national exams.
President Museveni on Sunday allowed schools to reopen for candidate classes including P.7, S.4 and S.6 plus finalists in tertiary institutions like colleges and universities after being closed for more than six months due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
By the time the schools closed in March, the first term had not ended.
However, according to the new calendar released by the Ministry of Education and Sports Permanent Secretary, Alex Kakooza, primary, secondary and technical schools plus community polytechnics will start the second term on Monday October 15th 2020 and the same will end on Friday December 18th 2020 whereas the third term will commence on January 11th 2021 up to Friday 30th April 2021.
“Holidays for the second term will run from Saturday December 19th 2020 to Sunday January 10th 2021,” the new calendar reads.
