UGDECIDES2021: Veteran Journalist vows to dethrone Minister Baryomunsi from Kinkizi East

KANUNGU- The political race for Parliamentary Seats is heating up and in Kinkizi East, Kanungu District, a veteran Journalist turned Social Worker,  Arans Tubaruka has vowed to defeat the sitting Member of Parliament Hon. Dr Chris Baryomunsi.

Arans Tabaruka is a social worker by occupation with over 10 years experience in community development work, communication, gender mainstreaming, environment, human rights, and project planning.  Currently, he is an overseer advocacy worker at Civic Response on Environment and Development (CRED).

Mr Tabaruka is a founding Member and Executive Director at IRUCE, a rural community organization which bridges policy gaps between the rural communities and the central government in order to increase access to justice and incomes to rural households.

He is also responsible for project development and implementation, monitoring and evaluation, human resource management, building partnerships, grant writing, and resource mobilization.

Mr.Tabaruka rose through the ranks in his illustrious career having worked across all traditional media platforms such as radio, print and television to spearhead advocacy for women and youth empowerment in rural communities.

“He was always identified with advocacy for community rights,” one of his peers described him.

Tabaruka is currently pursuing a Bachelors of Law Degree at Cavendish University Uganda in his final year, he believes this will help in his quest to advance advocacy for human rights and freedoms for the most underprivileged persons with a focused approach to development.

He shared his knowledge as a seasoned peer preacher and rural community worker in Uganda for the “Uganda we Deserve” to strengthen the capacity of the women and youth grassroots network and agents for change. 

Arans Tabaruka is wholly immersed into equality and sustainable development of rural communities with zeal that such disparities will be non-existent in future with responsive leadership.

EDUCATION BACKGROUND:
Tabaruka holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB 2017-2020) from Cavendish University Uganda and Administrative law Certificate  from Law Development Centre and a Diploma in Film and TV from Jamhuri Film &Television Academy Nairobi (2013-2015).

He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and Social Administration from Nkumba University (2007-2010) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE), Grammar School Buyanja (2003-2004) and Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) which he attained from Makobore High School (2000-2003) while he obtained his  Primary Leaving Certificate (PLE) at  Nyakabungo Primary School (PLE 1999).

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
He has been a Trustee of the Integrated Rural Community Empowerment (IRUCE) since 2012, a rural community based advocacy organisation working with women and children to strengthen their potential to survive. 

Programme Officer CRED (Advocacy and Communication) management of projects; undertake research, concept writing, work plans, budgets, field work and report writing, writing and publishing journal papers, publication in the newspapers.

Tabaruka worked as Bureau Chief of NBS Television (June 2017), Assert and create visibility, mentor & develop correspondents in the western region for the growing need of local content for television with a motive to dominate the media space and was tasked to deliver well researched, balanced and timely news products and contribute to morning show to upcountry updates. 

He has also worked as Producer, Presenter and Sports reporter, Kwese Free Sports (March 2016 – March 2017) and as aCommunications Officer, Uganda Health Communications Alliance, (UHCA) from  2014-2016.

He was also a broadcast Journalist at  WBS Television from  2014-2016 News Director and Political Reporter charged with planning, coordinating, producing reliable, objective and authoritative news and programs that catered for viewer expectations.

Earlier in his journalism career Tabaruka worked as English Editor, News Anchor and Correspondent at  Kinkiizi FM, Radio Rukungiri, Radio Ankole, Kanungu Broadcasting Services (KBS Radio) and Monitor Publications Ltd (2006-2013).
