KAMPALA- President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who is also the Chairman of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has summoned the Central Executive Committee (CEC) to a meeting at State House Entebbe on July 12th 2020.
According to a letter summoning the Central Executive Committee which this reporter saw, the CEC members are expected to arrive in Entebbe in time for the meeting which starts at 11:00 am.
Our credible source indicates that the top item on the Agenda is discussion on the proposed NRM primary election roadmap.
The source however indicated that President Museveni as the NRM party chairman will first address the meeting before the issue of the roadmap is discussed by the members.
This comes after the NRM party members raised red flag to the NRM Secretariat on why they have not announced the party election roadmap.
The delay in announcing the roadmap and mode of election created speculations that the NRM wanted to use Electoral College system to elect the Leaders.
However the NRM Electoral Commission Dr Tanga Odoi denied reports that the party wanted to use the Electoral College system and assured party members that the leaders will be elected by adult universal surferage.
Our source now indicates that Saturday’s meeting will spell out the mode of NRM elections and also announce the nomination and voting dates.
