KAMPALA- Results of Coronavirus tests done on Thursday July 2nd 2020 have confirmed 9 new cases.
The cumulative confirmed Coronavirus cases of Ugandans are now 911.
Out of the new cases, 4 are truck drivers of whom 2 arrived from Kenya via Malaba border, 1 from Tanzania via Mutukula and 1 from South Sudan via Elegu border post.
3 cases are contacts and alerts including 2 from Amuru and 1 from Kyotera whereas other two cases are Indians residents in Uganda who arrived from Mumbai on July 1st 2020 and were under quarantine at the time of testing.
The new cases are part of the 3,349 samples tested yesterday bring the total number of tested samples to 200,179 since the activity started in the country in March.
Additionally, 11 cases of truck drivers tested positive at the Border posts and were handed over to the authorities in their countries to be treated from there.
Uganda has todate registered 849 total recoveries including Ugandans and foreigners. The country has 197 active cases including 172 Ugandans, 3 refugees and 19 foreigners.
The statement from the Ministry of Health states that refugees are admitted at different facilities in the country though they are not captured on Uganda’s infections tally.
