KAMPALA- The number of coronavirus has hit 1000 after the Ministry of Health confirmed 23 new cases from 3,316 samples tested on Wednesday July 8th 2020.
Of the 23 new cases, 12 are Ugandan nationals who returned from abroad including 8 from Afghanistan, 3 from DRC and one from South Sudan all of whom were in quarantine centres at the time of testing.
3 others are truck drivers who arrived from Mutukula, Afoji and Madi Opei points of entry while 8 are contacts and alerts, 4 from Tororo and 4 from Luweero, Hoima, Kyotera and Arua Districts.
Additionally, 31 foreign truck drivers (24 Kenyans, 3 Tanzanians, 2 Congolese, 1 Rwandan and 1 South Sudanese tested positive for the scourge at the border points of entry and were handed over to the authorities in their home countries for further management.
Todate, Uganda has registered 904 recoveries from Coronavirus including both Ugandans and foreigners.
