KAMPALA- The Ministry of health has recorded 326 new COVID 19 cases from 4,160 samples tested yesterday. This brings to 4,707 the cumulative total confirmed cases of Ugandans.
The Ministry also registered 3 new COVID-19 deaths from Kampala increasing Uganda’s deaths toll to 52. Of the 326 new cases, 317 are Contacts and alerts of whom 94 are from Kampala, 93 from Buikwe, Kitgum 29, Gulu 17, Moroto 19, Mbale 10, Amuru 9, Kapchorwa 8, Pader 7 and Nwoya 5.
The othrer contacts and alerts include 5 from Bududa, 5 from Mukono, Wakiso 4, Jinja 2, Omoro 2, Sironko 3, Zombo 2, Arua 1, Namisindwa 1 and Tororo 1.
9 other new cases are returnees of who 5 are from India, 1 from Burkina Faso 1, Iraq 1, Italy 1 and Kenya 1. The Ministerial statement also adds that the total of Ugandan recoveries is currently at 1998.
The surge in coronavirus cases comes at a time when the Country was looking at the possibility of reopening schools for candidates especially medical students to bridge the human resource gap in the Health sector.
