KAMPALA-Parliament of Uganda will start mass screening of all Members of Parliament and other staff for Coronavirus starting tomorrow.
This was today ordered by the Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Rebecca Kadaga after Kiryandongo District Woman MP Hon Helen Kahunde tested positive for the virus.
Sources at Parliament revealed to this Online Publication that Hon Kahunde felt unwell in the past few days and decided to go to Mulago Hospital for check up.
It’s reported that when her results came out yesterday, they were positive for Coronavirus and she was immediately isolated and admitted.
Hon Kahunde has thus gone into the annals of history as the first Member of Parliament to test positive for the virus in Uganda.
However, Speaker Kadaga has disclosed that despite the infection of the Kiryadongo District Woman MP, parliament will continue to operate as usual.
The Ministry of Health has today confirmed 3 new confirmed cases of Coronavirus which brings the total number of Ugandans to-date to 1,043 while 1,004 people have recovered with no single registered death.
