RUKUNGIRI- The Police in Rukungiri District have in detention an 18 years old boy accused of cutting and killing a fellow teenager.
The one in detention according to Elly Maate the Kigezi Regional Police spokesman is Benidicto Niwamanya a resident of Nyarutojo Parish in Kambuga Sub County Kanungu District.
According to Maate, it is alleged that Christopher Ahereeza, a 16 year old senior two student at St Joseph’s S S Rushasha, who hails from Kagashe cell Kagashe ward Eastern division Rukungiri municipality picked a quarrel with Niwamanya last evening at Kagashe playground.
The duo together with others were playing football and Niwamanya rushed to the home of Emmanuel Pharaoh his employer, picked a panga, went back to the playground and critically cut Ahereza Christopher around the neck.
Maate adds that the victim was rushed to Nyakibale hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
“It is quite unfortunate for such a youth to be imprisoned at such a tender age on a situation he would have handled amicably. We have him in detention and he will be charged accordingly” Maate said.
While preaching to the mourners today at the deceased’s burial in Byara Cell, Eastern Division Rukungiri Municipality, Nicholus Arinaitwe the catechist at Nyabihinga Catholics church called on Christians to remain holy all through their lives as none understands their times of demise.
