KABALE-The Police in Kabale district have arrested 7 suspected sex workers who are accused of disobeying lawful orders.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate told our reporter that the 7 suspected sex workers were last night picked while trying to get in touch with long distance truck drivers in Kabale Municipality.
Maate said that the suspects were all picked after midnight at Safe Lodges and Bombocha Lodge along Mbarara Highway.
Elly Maate said that all the suspects are all aged between 18 and 24 years and they will be produced in court for doing an act likely to spread the deadly coronavirus pandemic.
He said that the Police and other enforcement agencies are mandated to protect Ugandans from such harmful acts and they had to act and arrest the sex workers after a cross section members of the general public complained. Maate therefore said that a case of disobeying lawful orders has been registered at Kabale District Police Station under reference SD 90/14/07/2020 to help in investigations.
