RUBANDA- The Police in Rubanda district have started investigations into the cause of a single fatal accident that claimed the life of a truck driver.
Elly Maate the Kigezi region Police spokesman told the press that the accident happened on Sunday evening at around 9pm at Mutachengwa on Kabale Kisoro highway in Rubanda district.
According to him, a vehicle reg number UBA 493E, benz box body veered off the road and rolled down the valley instantly killing one person believed to be its driver.
“We tried our best as police to remove the unrecognized body of the deceased from the truck because he was badly squeezed and took it to Kabale hospital mortuary for post mortem,” IP Maate said in a statement.
He added that “the driving permit and other documents found in the vehicle are in the names of Muhanguzi Richard whom we can’t tell whether he is the deceased we found under the vehicle”.
Maate says the accident could have resulted from over speeding, reckless driving; taking long drives without rest, the topography of the area not ruling out mechanical problems on the vehicle.
The police spokesman says inquiries are ongoing AT Rubanda Central Police station vide TAR 31/2020 to establish the likely cause of this accident.
