KISORO- Kisoro private teachers association has today petitioned the office of LCV Chairperson demanding the release of their 10 members who were arrested by Kisoro police for allegedly convening an illegal assembly.
The ten members were intercepted and arrested today by police from Sesame playground in Kisoro municipality where they had gone to work on their registration. Police arrested and detained 10 teachers whereas others scampered for safety.
Kisoro private teachers’ association Chairperson, Yatuha Lucky got irritated over the arrest of his members and is requesting district Chairperson Abel Bizimana to intervene for the immediate release of the detained teachers.
In their letter seen by this online website, teachers claim that they convened with an aim of helping themselves especially during this covid-19 lockdown period.
The association also served copies to the office of district speaker, RDC, and district police commander.
Kisoro private teachers’ association secretary, Mr. Nsabiyunva David appeals to the district council to convince police to release their fellows, adding that private teachers are the most affected employees due to lockdown.
By the time we filed this story, the Kisoro district LCV Chairperson, Abel Bizimana was still in the district council meeting.
