KAMPALA- President Yoweri Museveni has recalled the services of the Local Defence Unit (LDUs) following the many complaints raised by cross section members of society due to the brutal attacks on the civilians.
A credible source intimated to our reporter that the President wasn’t the operations of the LDUs reviewed and their command streamlined so that their actions can be followed up.
It’s reported that President Museveni who I also the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, held an urgent high level security meeting yesterday where the security members discussed the LDUs actions which are reported to be below expected standards of armed forces.
This comes after Mityana LC 5 Chairman Joseph Luzige was recently humiliated by a group of LDUs when he found them brutalising a Boda Boda cyclist who was carrying a pregnant woman before curfew time in Mityana Municipality.
The 4 LDUs have since been arrested to answer for their actions and a team that was sent to Mityana to assess the situation agreed that they be tried in full view of the public.
It’s reported that the President recalled the LDUs services as a way of controlling their actions.
