KABALE- Police in Kabale are investigating the circumstance under which the youth councillor for Kabale Municipality is accused of allegedly assaulting a 26-year-old man for failure to support his preferred candidate for the Kabale Municipality Mayor.
The victim hails from Kamukira-Rwamukundi village in southern Kabale Municipality.
Byarugaba Joseph of Kamukira-rwamukundi village southern Kabale Municipality who is aged 26 years is accusing Allan Suuwe the Youth Councillor, Kabale Municipality for supporting and supervising unknown thugs who assaulted him leaving him in a critical condition.
It is alleged that Suuwe, who also doubles as the Kabale Municipality Mayor, Sentaro Byamugisha’s youth campaign manager last week told a section of youth members in Kirigyime ward in southern division to divert from the other Kabale municipality mayorship camp and instead join the Byamugisha sentaro camp if they want peace and harmony within the municipality.
On 20th July, 2020, the assault case was reported at Kabale main police station under file number CRB 38/19/07/20 by Sam Tindimwebwa who is eyeing the Kabale Municipality Mayor seat while the victim was rushed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital in a critical condition where he was treated and subsequently discharged on 21st July 2020.
Tindimwebwa noted that the victim accused Allan of continuously calling him several times forcing him to support the incumbent Mayor who is Byamugisha Sentaro.
Byarugaba Joseph, the victim today told our reporter today that he is living in fear because his bones were fractured and he is likely to suffer health complications.
When contacted on the matter, the Kabale Municipality Youth Councilor Allan Suuwe refuted the allegations saying that he was also shocked to see the information on social media platforms circulating-tarnishing his name .
He also noted that he is waiting for police to come and intervene since the case is already in police books.
However, the Kigezi region Police Spokesperson, Elly Matte said that police visited the victim at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital and statementents were recorded as investigations are still being conducted.
