KANUNGU- Kanungu district Chairperson Canon Josephine Kasya has revealed that the district will write to the Uganda Police Leadership seeking to know their plans pertaining the land the district donated to the Uganda Police Force for the establishment of a Police Training School.
It should be recalled that Kanungu District Local Government donated 42 acres of land in Matanda, Kihihi sub-county in Kanungu district to the Uganda Police Force for it to establish a Police Training School.
However, it’s now close to 10 years the Police Force Adminstration is yet to establish the Police Training School even though they took a step ahead and processed a land title for this land in the force’s names.
Canon Josephine Kasya however said that that they decided to give away this land to Police saying the establishment of a Police Training School would bring socio- economic development in the area.
She however said that if not utilized as agreed, the district shall take steps to have their land back and use it to benefit from the ongoing establishment of industrial parks.
Similarly Kanungu District also gave out 20 acres of land to Kachwekano Zonal Research and Development Institute for research but the district Chairperson said it was also unfortunate to note that these are also not on ground.
Speaking to Kihihi LC 3 Chairman, Nelson Natukunda, revealed that both pieces of land are currently being used for agriculture purposes by different groups of people and added that the sub-county, had welcomed the developments but up to now remain worried as these developmental projects did not materialize.
When contacted, the Uganda Police Spokesman Fred Enanga said that he had no current information regarding the allocated land in Kanungu District but said he will make a follow-up to establish the current status on the ground.
