North Kizezi Diocese Leadership has resolved to form a disciplinary committee to act upon the un-disciplined head teachers and teachers of church founded schools.
This was resolved on Thursday Feb 27th 2020, at Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasano, during a one day workshop that involved the diocesan clergy, Chairpersons board of governors and school management committees of all Anglican founded schools in North Kigezi diocese.
The meeting was chaired by the Rt. Rev. Bishop Benon Magezi, the North Kigezi diocesan bishop.
Bishop Magezi, says the disciplinary committee will be tasked to encourage more supervision in these schools management committees which in the end will boost education standards in their schools.
According to Bishop Magezi, the disciplinary committee will be tasked to produce reports on the discipline of teachers and their immediate supervisors that will be used to punish the poor performing Administrators in the Anglican founded schools.
“The committee will always make recommendations that we will submit to the district education department for an immediate action so that the diocese together with the district can work hand in hand to iron out the difference” Bishop Magezi.
Jackson Turyahumura, the Rukungiri district principle inspector of schools, advised that Sunday school the first stage of learning, setting be revised and re-instated in schools in order to promote moral values in teachers, pupils and students.
Rev Muntulive Nshabaruhanga, the North Kigezi diocesan Education coordinator, welcomed the idea adding that this is what they have for a long time demanded for and he is optimistic that this will help to regain the glory of Anglican founded schools.
The resolution came just a day after the Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner, Dan Kaguta, blamed the foundation bodies mostly of church of Uganda founded schools not to have played their role in ensuring their performance is improved.
