KABALE- The Police in Kabale Township have impounded 19 motorcycles in a night operation against motorists operating beyond curfew hours contrary to the Ministry of Health’s guidelines aimed at curtailing the spread of COVID-19.
According to Elly Maate the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman, 19 motorists were impounded and are to be issued with express penalty scheme fines.
The operation according to Police was conducted last night between 10pm and 5:30am when they are supposed to have stopped their operations at 5pm.
The Kigezi region Police mouthpiece also advised the cyclists to observe the Ministry of Health guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that are aimed at stemming the spreading of the scourge as they resume operations today.
“I want to further caution our people that as Police we shall not allow people to provoke us by continuously being defiant, the best is to adhere to the SOPs for the smooth running of their activities,” Maate asserted.The case has been registered at Kabale Central Police station vide SD 36/27/07/2020.
