KAMPALA- The Ministry of Health has on Tuesday 21st July 2020 adjusted the number of Coronavirus recoveries removing the foreign truck drivers from Uganda’s tally.
This brings to 958 the total recoveries in Uganda.
“The Ministry of Health would like to clarify that foreign truck drivers who were treated and recovered at our hospitals have NOW been excluded among our recoveries”.
Ugandans were on Monday left in shock after the ministerial statement showed that the number of total recoveries were 1,072 against the 1,069 total cases.
According to the ministerial statement the numbers included foreigners who were never recorded as cases but were being included in the country’s recoveries.
Meanwhile, the results from 2,383 samples tested on Monday July 20th 2020 confirmed 3 new coronavirus cases hiking Uganda’s total cases to 1,072.
All the three new cases are truck drivers who were confirmed at Elegu, Malaba and Madi opei border points of entry.
Additionally 9 truck drivers tested positive for coronavirus at different border points of entry and their entry was denied so that they can attain treatment from their home countries.
The 9 included 8 Kenyans and an Eritrean. Uganda has today tested 250,029 samples since the process started in March 2020 when the outbreak was announced in the country.The country currently has 114 active coronavirus cases on admission.
