SHEEMA: The Sheema District National Resistance Movement NRM Chairperson and Technology Minister, Hon Elioda Tumwesigye, who lost to the NRM Primaries for Sheema Municipality, has on Thursday October 15th 2020 been nominated on the Independent ticket.
The determined Elioda has vowed to put up a tight race and give the former URA Commissioner Dickson Kateshumbwa a run for his money saying the primaries were neither free nor fair hoping for a better opportunity in the general election to prove that he was the favorite candidate for Sheema Municipality.
After being nominated, Elioda promised to serve the people of Sheema Municipality with dedication and ensure vast extension of social services in the area.
Through his term in office, Elioda has made a lot of achievements including supporting thousands of people in Sheema to receive drugs during the 1990s when HIV/AIDS was ravaging the country and getting scholarships for young people from Sheema to schools and higher institutions of learning.
Tumwesigye has been representing Sheema Municipality since 2018 Meanwhile before he was thrown out by Kateshumbwa in September 4th 2020 party primary elections.
However, Kateshumbwa who was also nominated on the same day said his strategy will now be the door-do-door campaign to challenge the independent Elioda.In the same vein, Economic Monitoring Minister Molly Kamukama was also nominated on an Independent ticket to contest for Kazo constituency Parliamentary race after losing to Jennifer Muheesi Abaho during the NRM primaries.
