KAMPALA- The National Coordinator for Human Rights Network for Journalists – Uganda Robert Ssempala has asked journalists to remain steadfast while doing their job especially during the election period.
Ssempala made the remarks today September 28th 2020, while officiating on a 2-day Training Workshop for Journalists drawn in Kigezi Sub Region at Kirigime Guest House in Kabale Municipality.
The Training Workshop was organised by Human Rights Network for Journalists (HRNJ) Uganda which is intended to equip journalists with skills of Justice systems in Uganda and sensitizing them about the law of defamation and it’s defences.
Ssempala told the participants that they ought to know their working environment in order to know the limits of their journalistic boundaries in order not to get in conflict with the law.
He also asked the upcoming journalists to invest more in their career by upgrading their studies because sooner or later the regulatory framework will need them to meet the minimum journalistic practicing standards.
The Training Workshop was attended by over 30 journalists drawn from both print and electronic media.
