Mbarara police detain 34-year-old man for assaulting his mother to death

MBARARA- The Police in Mbarara have in their custody Joseph Asiimwe aged 34 years on allegations of attacking and assaulting his mother to death.

Asiimwe, a resident of Kitojo cell, in Nyakayojo -Mbarara city allegedly assaulted Nakibule Restatuta aged 66 years for assaulting his mother to death and later dumped the body behind the house.

According to the Rwizi police spokesperson Samson Kasasira, the police arrested the suspect on Monday September 14th 2020 to help in investigations.

Kasasira added that Asiimwe committed the offence over the weekend though Police hasn’t yet established the motive of the murder.

“We have him in detention interrogating him on why he resorted to assaulting his mother to death. Unfortunately he hasn’t uttered anything about the crime but we are doing our best to have his side of the crime,” Rwizi Region PRO Kasasira told the press.

The Police PRO adds that the body of the deceased was taken to Mbarara regional referral hospital pending postmortem as investigations take course.
