KISORO- The Police in Kisoro have in their custody the man who is suspected to have killed 4 members of his family.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson Elly Maate has confirmed that Ndikumukiza Gerald who picked a panga on 24th September, 2020 and slaughtered his father, mother, wife and sister in law reported himself at Kisoro Police today September 27th 2020 morning after spending 3 days in hiding.
Maate said that Ndikumukiza is reported to have killed his father Deogratious Sebitama aged 80 years, his mother Nyiraguhirwa Bonconsira aged 75 years, his wife Mujawimana Maliserina aged 26 years and his brother’s wife Nyiramahoro Joan aged 20 years.
The incident took place in Kageyo village in Busengo Parish in Nyarubuye Sub County in Kisoro District.
Maate said that that the suspect reported himself to police fearing lynching by the residents who have been hunting for him ever since he allegedly killed his family members.
Maate said that the suspect Ndikumukiza has narrated to the Police that he killed his family members out of anger after he was allocated a piece of land which was unaccessible in the hills where he could not construct a house
“That’s why he went out to work for money so that he could buy his own land but this did not work” Maate said on what the suspect told the Police at Kisoro where he reported himself.
Maate has said that the suspect will be produced in court where he will be charged with murder.
