KAMPALA– The President of Uganda Journalists Association, Kazibwe Bashir Mbaziira has resigned from Next Media Services where he’s been hosting a talk show.
This is a requirement he had to fulfill to enable him to transition into active politics as he is ready to unseat Hon. Mubarak Munyagwa in the Kawempe South constituency.
According to the statement from Next Media Services limited signed by Desire Derekeford Mugumisa the incharge of PR and communications, the Kamwokya-based TV station has agreed to part ways with Mbazira as he attempts to fulfill his political career.
“We would like to thank Kazibwe for his dedicated service over the years he has been with us and wish him the very best in this new challenge,” a Next Media statement read in part.
The out-going television presenter has been hosting “The Eagle”, “Ensi Nebyayo” and “One on one with Tamale Mirundi.”
The Next Media group Chief Strategist, Joseph Kigozi said “Although it is unfortunate that we’re saying goodbye to Kazibwe, We also encourage those that would grow in politics to follow their dreams.”
“The memories he leaves with us are priceless. He provided all who watched NBS Television during his timeslots great moderation that sparked memorable insightful debates and for that we thank Kazibwe enormously, we look forward to welcoming him back to Next Media Services in future,” Kigozi added.
Kazibwe was recently seen at People Power head offices where he had gone to pick nomination forms to fulfill his political interests in unseating the incumbent Kawempe South legislator, Mubarak Munyagwa.
Another source linked Kazibwe’s resignation from NBS to joining Busineman’s SK Mbuga’s STV.
In a promo that this online website has viewed circulating on social media, Mbazira will host a daily show “Olwongoto lwa work” that will air weekdays from Monday to Friday where he will on Tuesdays host the controversial presidential advisor on media, Tamale Mirundi.
He joins the political race in the footsteps of other journalists like; Joel Ssenyonyi who has also shown interest to contest for the Nakawa Parliamentary seat in the forthcoming 2021 general elections.
Another journalist who has declared interest for a political seat in 2021 is PML Daily’s sports Editor Shaban Benteke also known as Shaban Lubega who wants the LC3 Najjanankumbi II Councillor’s post.
