KANUNGU– Kanungu District Coronavirus TaskForce have closed Kihihi Health Center IV in Kihihi Town Council following a confirmed case of Coronavirus death.
Kanungu District Health Officer Dr Stephen Ssebudde has confirmed that a 51 year old man who was admitted at the Health facility died and was buried yesterday.
Dr Ssebudde said that the Health Center has been evacuated and all new patients have been asked to seek treatment elsewhere.
A notice at Kihihi Health Center reads that all new patients should seek treatment in Kambuga Hospital or go to privately owned Bwindi Hospital.
Dr Ssebudde said that the patient was admitted in the Isolation ward after he presented Coronavirus symptoms like high fever, coughing and red eyes and subsquently died.
The authorities have since said that the health facility will remain closed to enable the fumigation of the facility as a procedure by the Ministry of Health.
He also said that all the contacts of the deceased have been traced and quarantined to help contain the spread of Coronavirus.
This is the first Coronavorus case to be reported in Kanungu District.
