KANUNGU- Kanungu District Local Government Leaders have been asked to work together by making plans that put priority need of the people they lead.
The call was made Tuesday 3rd Nov 2020, by the District Chairperson Can Josephine Kasya in a speech read for her by the Secretary for Works and Technical Services Xtopher Kamara during the annual district Budget conference at Kanungu District Council Hall.
The scientific annual budget conference was attended by District Councilor, Technical Staff, members of the Civil Society Organizations, and selected Opinion Leaders.
According to Kanungu Chief Administrative Officer Alex Kwizera, the budget conference is an important event that kicks start the budget preparation process for the coming year and it focuses of looking at challenges faced in the previous year and agrees on the measures to improve service delivery in the District.
During the day long deliberation in the budget conference, each department presented its achievements and challenges and this were picked as major benchmarks to help the district plan for the financial year 2021/2022.
According to Kanungu District Local Government Planner Atuheire Innocent, significant progress has been made in strategic planning of district priorities but much more is needed to successfully address all facets of implementation cycle.
Atuheire disclosed that Kanungu District Local Government has a projected annual budget of Ugx 40.9 billion which if planned for properly can change the lives of the population in the district for better.
While closing the function the Deputy RDC Emmy Ngabirano hailed the District Planning Unit for organizing the conference which he said that will go a long way in improving the livelihoods of the people of Kanungu District based on the theme, ‘Industrialization for inclusive Growth, Employment and Wealth Creation’.
