KABALE- The Chairperson of Kigezi Inter-religious council, Rev Fr Gaetano Batanyenda has said that failure by the Ministry of Health and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to reopen places of worship is an indication that the top leadership has no respect for God.
Addressing the media today July 24th 202, at Kick Corruption out of Uganda offices in Kirigime ward Kabale Municipality, Fr Batanyenda who is also the Parish Priest of Kitanga Parish in Rukiga District said that he did not see the reason why places of worship should not be reopened as the Country eases Coronavirus lockdown,
Fr Batanyenda said that churches are in a better position to observe standard operating procedures in preventing Coronavirus than markets.
He said that the church has best practices more tahn trannsport business which have already been reopened.
He therefore said that the President and Ministry of Health should reconsider their decision and reopen the places of worship because they are the only places where people can find consolation.
