KANUNGU- Kanungu Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC) Emmy Ngabirano, has appealed to the caretakers of the elderly persons not to give up on supporting them just because the government has started giving them their monthly payments.
Mr Ngabirano made these remarks today on July 13th 2020 in an exclusive interview with our reporter in his office, based in Kihihi Town Council on the forthcoming payment of elderly funds.
The Deputy RDC said that the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development will be paying out the Ugx 150,000 to the elderly persons aged 80 years and above which is meant for six months and the team will be at Kanungu Town Council on 23rd July, 2020 and at Kihihi Town Council on 24th July 2020.
Mr Ngabirano said the money would have been paid earlier for 3 months but was unfortunately interrupted by the global Coronavirus pandemic, but it has eventually materialised.
Kihihi Town Council Community Development Officer, Lilian Ingabire clarified that all government pensioners are not beneficiaries of the funds and therefore should not turn up to receive the money since they get their pension every month.
She however called all the beneficiaries to turn up with their National Identity Cards (IDs) and also appealed to all those who have clocked 80 years and never registered to do so at their respective Sub Counties.
