BUSHENYI- There is an anticipation of a stiff electoral competition in Igara West Parliamentary race after Professor Tarsis Kabwegyere bounced back as an independent candidate.
Professor Kabwegyere 79, lost to the Kasambya County legislator Hon Gaffa Mbwatekamwa in the NRM Primaries though he was never satisfied with the results.
Kabwegyere represented Igara West in Parliament for 15 years (1996-2011) when he lost the seat to the local government Minister Hon. Raphael Magezi.
Prof. Kabwegyere also served in different Ministerial positions ranging from General duties Minister in the OPM, Labour, Gender and social Affairs and Minister of Disaster Relief and Planning in 2011.
Professor Kabwegyere is expected to face stiff completion from NRM flag bearer Mbwatekamwa Gaffa and Katana Brian (FDC Flag bearer).
FDC’s Brian Katana told this Online Publication that his belief is that the FDC has a massive support in Igara West and is assured people will vote out the NRM this time.
The youthful Parliamentary aspirant adds that the NRM has led the area for more than 35 years and failed to deliver according to the Constituents’ expectations.
Dr. Karuhanga Nickolas who also lost in the NRM primaries is in the race for the same seat as an independent candidate.
