RUKUNGIRI- The Police in Rukungiri district is investigating two separate incidents where two people are alleged to have died under unclear circumstances.
According to Elly Maate the Kigezi Regional Police spokesman, one of the deceased is Timothy Karenzi Amooti 46, a mutooro peasant resident of Nyamambo cell, Central Ward Kebisoni Town Council.
Mutooro left home on Wednesday 29th July 2020 to Kebisoni Town council where he took booze until late into the night. When he went back home, Mutooro told his son Derick Abaho that he was suffering from a headache and went to sleep.
He was on Thursday July 30th 2020 found dead in his bedroom by Allan Nabimanya 46, a resident of the same address who reported to Kebisoni Police station that subsequently informed the main station in Rukungiri. Police visited the scene and did a postmortem as inquiries are initiated at SD REF 05/30/07/2020.
In a separate incident, police are investigating the death of Herbert Mugabe aged 31 a fishmonger of Ncwera cell in Rwenshama parish, Bwambara sub county in Rukungiri District.
According to Maate, the deceased on Wednesday returned home at around 6pm while he was drunk and entered his house of residence where he stays alone.
It is alleged that he never surfaced at the landing site on Thursday for his usual work which forced the vice chair person LC1 of the above address Willy Kabudogo and others to go and check on him.
Unfortunately on looking through the door gaps, Mugabe was seen lying dead in the sitting room and the door locked from inside.
Rwenshama Police Station was notified who later informed the Rukungiri main Police and inquiries are at hand vide CRR 008/2020.
“I want to call upon all the residents that if you must drink, drink responsibly so that if something happens to you, you can be able to get yourself out of danger” Matte said in a statement. He added that Police have already initiated investigations in both incidents to establish the real cause of both deaths.
