Fishermen, Police retrieve body of unidentified man from L. Albert

BULISA- The body of a yet to be identified man has been retrieved by Fishermen and police from Lake Albert in Buliisa district.

Information obtained by this Online Publication indicates that Fishermen saw the body floating near Butiaba landing site in Butiaba Sub County in Buliisa district on Tuesday evening November 3rd 2020 at around 7 pm.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region police spokesperson, says the body is lying at Buliisa general hospital pending postmortem and positive identification.

He, however, said that should none claim it, they will arrange with residents to bury it. Hakiza says the deceased could have been a fisherman from another landing site and could have drowned while fishing.

Musa Aweera, an eye witness and resident, says that they saw the body floating when they went fishing. He says they immediately alerted Marine police, which swung into action and helped retrieve the body.

According to Aweera, the deceased who is believed to be in his 50’s isn’t known in the area.
