MITOOMA- At Least 10 people have been arrested in Mitooma district for defying the Covid-19 restrictions set by the Ministry of Health and President Museveni.
These were arrested on the night of Sunday 27th September 2020 past curfew time.
In an operation held by Mitooma police, the suspects were found drinking alcohol at Bar side View in Mitooma town council.
Among the arrested is the Incumbent Mitooma town council Chairperson Alfred Mugarura (owner) and some others. Mugarura recently lost the NRM flag in the party primaries to one called Albert.
Sources have revealed that the Mayor has since been warned by operatives to close his bar but has been defying the guidelines using his position as the mayor.
Without disclosing all the details of the suspects, at police, others who were arrested include; Yonah Byamanywoha, Asiimwe Robert, Monica and some others.
President Museveni ordered for closure of bars in March 2020 to curtail the spread of Coronavirus and by that time, Uganda had only registered one positive case.
By the time of filing this story, Uganda had 7530 cumulative cases, 73 deaths and 3,647 recoveries.
