KIGEZI- The Police in Kanungu are investigating circumstances under which a 56-year-old headmaster died in a motor accident.
The accident which was serious and turned fatal occurred on Monday 20th July 2020 at around 18:00 hours at Kanyamihini village along Kanyantorogo Kihihi road.
This was when Rwemarika John, a head teacher of Zoroma primary school in Kambuga and resident of Butogota upper cell / town council while riding motorcycle reg no UEV035W bajaj, hit a hump, overturned and was critically injured.
According to Elly Maate the Kigezi region Police mouthpiece, Rwemarika was rushed to Kihihi health centre IV where he succumbed moments later in the night.
Police received information on Tuesday, visited the scene and inquiries were initiated and ongoing.
In a related development, two people died in a hit and run motor accident when they were knocked by an unknown vehicle while they were illegally riding on an unknown motorcycle.
The rider according to Mate was Arinda Jabal 20 years and passenger was Turyatunga Gideon 27 both residents of Rwaburindi village, Ikamiro parish Muko sub county Rubanda district.
Maate added that the accident occurred on Tuesday 21st July at around 22:20 hours at Kagano cell Karengyere parish Muko s/c while they were from Karengyere trading centre going back home.
The rider died on spot while the passenger died on arrival at Mutolere hospital in Kisoro where he had been rushed.
Inquiries according to Maate are underway at Kanungu and Rubanda Police stations vide TAR 19/2020 and TAR 17/2020 respectively to establish the likely causes of the accidents.
