NTUNGAMO- The Ntungamo Magistrates court will today September 15th 2020 decide on bail application of the state minister for Labour, Gender and Social Development and former deputy Attorney General, Mwesigwa Rukutana.
The Chief Magistrate, Ms Sarah Mponye Kolya, on September 8th told the former deputy Attorney General that she needed more time to study his bail application due today when she hopes to deliver her ruling.
Rukutana had paraded a number of surities including the former Rujumbura County legislator Maj Gen Jim Muhwezi, Michael Mawanda the Igara East legislator, prominent businessman in Rubaare Ali Muteeba and Bob Kabonero.
The later together with his escorts were charged with attempted murder of Julius Nuwamanya and inflicted him with bodily harm and allegedly damaged a vehicle belonging to Mr Moses Muhumuza.
The prosecution further alleged that on September 5, 2020, at Kagugu village in Ntungamo district, Rukutana and others still at large, assaulted Julius Niwamanya and threatened to kill or injure him together with three others; Stuart Kamukama, Dan Rwibirungi, and Moses Kamukama.
Kabasharira last week floored Minister Rukutana in the NRM primaries on September 4th 2020 with 24,006 votes with the Minister managing 23,996 votes.
