A Ugandan student has died in China under unclear circumstances.
Shafiq Mbogo 22 was a student at Shenyang University and was on Thursday afternoon Feb 27th 2020 at around 2pm found dead near his residence in Shenyang province.
According a press release by the Ugandan envoy in China Philip Kanyoonzi, Mbogo who hails from Mbale is said to have died after falling off from the balcony of his hostel.
Kanyoonzi also says investigations are underway to establish the real cause of his death.
He however ruled out the news of corona virus in this incident. Mbogo has been a 4th year student undertaking Bachelors Degree in international Business and trade a son to Mrs Dorothy Wagalinda who currently stays in the United Kingdom.
“We have already notified the mother about the sudden death of his son and her desire is to have a proper report about the cause of his death and the body returned back home for a decent burial” read a statement from Shenyang University.
Mbogo’s death comes at a time when the deadly corona virus continues to take course in the Wuhan province and the World Health Organisation has already declared it a global emergency.
The news of Mbogo’s death also emerges at the peak of the time when some Ugandan students are stuck in the epi centre of Wuhan city crying for government’s assistance To Help them out of the area where corona virus has claimed number of lives.
