Civil servants urged to enhance transparency

Ntungamo- Civil servants have been urged to enhance transparency and integrity if they are to improve service delivery to all Ugandans as it is expected.

According to the Ihunga sub county speaker Atuhaire Glory, civil servants should be exemplarily in order to implement government programs and fight against corruption at local governments.

Speaker Atuhaire made remarks on Tuesday during the Ihunga sub county council meeting which coincides with the farewell of outgoing sub county chief Ainomugisha Coleta who has been transferred back to Itojo Sub County in mini reshuffle made by the chief Administrative officer (CAO) Ntungamo Turyareeba Hanny recently.

She commended the sub county chief Ainomugisha Coleta for exhibiting high degree of transparency, integrity  and corruption free, appealing to other civil servants to borrow a leaf from her for better service delivery.

Atuhaire asked all employees to be trustworthy if their areas of jurisdiction are to be developed.

In his submissions, the Ihunga sub county Chairperson Rubagyera Jackson hailed chief Ainomugisha for transforming the sub county during her three years tenure from grass to grace where it was constructed and shifted to its permanent administration block in Kyenkuku.

Rubagyera asked both civil servants and political leaders to always detoxify their work environments to improve service delivery like what chief Coleta did.

He also implored the local leaders and general public to adhere to standard operating procedures as set by the ministry of health to contain COVID-19 saying that there has been laxity in implementing them.

Rubagyera used the occasion to thank the people of Ihunga Sub County for entrusting him with the mandate of serving them for the last 20 years assuring them that he will not stand again.

The outgoing Ihunga sub county Chief Ainomugisha Coleta attributed her success since 2017 to cooperation among technical staff and political leaders at all levels.

Ainomugisha highlighted what has been done during her tenure including lobby of Kitondo health centre II outpatient Department(OPD) which will be constructed at the cost of 300m, construction of administration block, what is being done and what to be done.

The climax of the council meeting was awarding a certificate of appreciation and a She goat to Ainomugisha Coleta for her splendiferous work done at Ihunga Sub County.
