KAMPALA- Multiple World record holder Joshua Cheptegei has received a promotional rank in the Uganda Police.
The 24-year old has been promoted from the rank of Inspector of Police (IP) to Assistant Superintendent of Police ( ASP) in the Ugandan Police.
The revelation was confirmed by the Uganda Police Spokesman, Fred Enaga during the weekly Police press briefing today at the Media Center, Kampala.
In 2018, Cheptegei was promoted four ranks up in the police hierarchy from the Police Constable to the rank of Inspector of Police after winning the 5000 meterc gold medal at the Common Wealth Games in Australia.
Two years afterwards, the Ugandan hero has been promoted further up after his world record stellar performance in Valencia where he broke Bekele’s 10,000m world record that stood for almost 15 years.
Furthermore, according to the Enaga, the sports facility at the Police training center will also be named after the record breaking Ugandan runner.
