NAMUTUMBA– Incidents of chaos and tension are continuing to be reported as Uganda’s mass party NRM are in polls to decide their next representatives in the 11th parliament.
Fresh developments coming in indicate that Dr. Tanga Odoi, NRM’s Electoral Commission Chairman has cancelled the party primaries in Bukono County Constituency in Namutumba District after an agent of Minister Persis Namuganza was killed.
“I have suspended elections in Bukono constituency because Hon. Persis Namuganza’s agent was killed this morning. We have sent police to arrest anyone connected to that killing,” said Tanga Odoi.
Earlier today, Odoi suspended the Mawogola North elections involving Minister Sam Kutesa’s daughter Shartsi Kutesa and President Yoweri Museveni’s Sodo Kaguta over chaos and violence.
Last night, Niwamanya Haruna Sodo’s supporter was burnt by unknown people and is currently nursing wounds at Beacof Medical Centre in Sembabule Town.
Also today morning the Iganga NRM district Chairperson Hajji Abubaker Wulubi confirmed that elections in Kigulu South have been cancelled following the death of one of the candidates, Stephen Waako who was involved in an accident.
However, he noted that elections for Iganga district women flag bearer will move on as scheduled.
