HOIMA- Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom has rejected the deployment of Mr. Alex Mwine in Hoima as District Police commander.
While addressing the media on Friday afternoon October 23rd 2020, the Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom Prime Minister Owek Andrew Byakutaga said the Kingdom rejects the deployment of Mr. Mwine who has a record of questionable discipline.
Mr. Mwine was implicated in the teargasing a meeting of Mbogo clan members which included senior religious leaders.
The action caused widespread condemnation from members of the public which prompted Police to make a public apology and the IGP Martins Okoth Ochola ordered for a transfer of the District Police commander from Mityana to Hoima.
The Prime Minister informed the media that he has written to the IGP requesting him to rescind the transfer of Mr. Mwine to Hoima and instead deploy befitting disciplined officers.
The Kingdom argues that what is bad in Buganda cannot be good in Bunyoro or in other areas and therefore, it’s not right for them to deploy Mwine before subjecting him to any disciplinary action such that he goes to his next area of operation when he is a changed person.
The angry speaking activists add that they are not ready to welcome Mwine who is being promoted to command police in a Hoima which recently got a city status after disrespecting a religious and cultural function and has since failed to apologize individually.
