KAMPALA- The Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has summoned the Minister for Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng before Parliament to explain the circumstances under which she was seen in public flouting the presidential guidelines that are aimed at preventing the spread of Coronavirus in the Country.
The Speaker of Parliament also summoned the state minister for Kampala Betty Namugwanya who is also the Mubende District Woman Member of Parliament. She is also on the spot for holding a rally over the weekend in Mubende where a massive crowd of over 2,000 people were said to be in attendance.
Speaker Kadaga’s summons to the two ministers comes a few days after social media was awash with evident photos showing that they both defied presidential directives.
Minister Jane Ruth Aceng is particularly accused by the general public of failing to wear the facemask yet she is the one who advised President Museveni as a scientist to enforce the wearing of masks.
However, Dr. Aceng has already clarified to the public that it was not her intention not to wear the facemask but was instead sensitizing the public on how to wear it.
The Speaker however said that the two ministers will have to make a statement on the floor of Parliament to explain how they could not lead by example.
