KANUNGU- The Kanungu district National Resistance Movement NRM registrar Mr. Alex Turyahikayo has sacked 4 Sub- County registrars ON accusation of embezzling village youth allowances, delaying electioneering materials to the polling stations, delaying results to the tally center among others.
The 4 were sacked on Friday September 11th 2020 after meeting the district party officials at the party offices in Kanungu district.
Those who were fired are Robert Magara, the NRM registrar Butogota town council, Mildred Tushabomise of Rugyeyo sub- County, Constance Tukahirwa Kambuga sub- County and Moreen Arineitwe of Kihihi town council.
Mr. Turyahikayo told our reporter that the fired registrars committed the offences during the recently conclude National Resistance Movement primary elections that were held on Friday September 5th 2020 for the NRM Parliamentary Flag Bearers and Youth representatives for Kanungu district.
Mr. Turyahikayo said that one, Robert Magara embezzled Ugx 1.5 m that were meant to be given youth committees at village levels in the whole of Butogota town council.
“The NRM constitutions gives me authority to sack any party official who acts contrally to the party constitution and I have immediately replaced them to allow the process of voting for Local Councils Flag bearers to continue successfully” Mr. Turyahikayo said.
Mr. Robert Magara, one of the sacked registrars told this Online Publication that he has not appealed the decision adding that the party didn’t pay his remuneration for the services offered.
He acknowledged handing over the office to new registrar so that the party activities are not crippled.
When asked about the embezzlement accusations levied against him, Mr Magara denied the allegation attributing it to haters who master minded the plan to have him lose the job.
