Ugandan rapper Shafik Walukagga alias Fik Fameica is supposed to be battling a Court case in which he is accused of equating women to objects in his song “Property”.
Fik was sued after a one Prasidia Nagasha petitioned the high court seeking to have the song banned for its lyrics which she claims undermine the dignity of women.
In the song, the rapper uses lyrics which to women’s rights groups have encouraged domestic violence, objectification of women, and hence disrespectful. In the song, lyrics read, ” She’s my property, my chapatti, my yogurt, my Bugatti… “
However, Fik Fameika has attributed the court battles to people’s failure to appreciate creativity, saying his song is not in any way a disrespectful gesture towards women but rather a praise. He also revealed that he has not been summoned anywhere yet to explain or pronounce himself about the song.
