The Executive Secretary of Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB), Dr Daniel Odongo has said that 26 Examination Centers at whose 126 candidates results were withheld over exam malpracices will be investigated.
Dr Odongo made this revealation at the function to release the 2019 Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) results which took place at President Office.
While giving out a summary breakdown of the results , Dr Odongo said that the candidates of the withheld results will be summoned to appear before UNEB Examination Security Committee to answer some questions and if they satisify the trubunal , their results will be released.
According to the results which UNEB released today, a total of 38,737 candidates got 3 Principal Passes which earn them an automatic admission to University, while 26,986 candidates got 2 Principal Passes.
Dr Odongo also announced that 23,327 candidates managed to get at least a Principal Pass and 12,828 obtained Subsdiary passes.
Dr Odongo said that the overall performance in the 2019 S.6 examination was excellent because 98.6% of the candidates managed to qualify to get Certificates.
Speaking at the same function, the Chairperson of UNEB Prof Mary Okwakol said that the organisation has introduced a new measurement to capture data during the tallying of the results so as to improve accuracy and avoid cases where data is entered twice .
The Minister of Education and Sports Hon Janet Museveni, who presided over the release of the exams lamented over the continued poor performance of science subjects especially Biology in A level and suggested a stakeholders Conference to look into the matter.
