Kyadondo East Member Of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has taken another stride in his pursuit of the top office by launching a new political party titled the National Unity Party. The new party is a brainchild of the People Power pressure group under which he has been operating since his entrance into parliament.
The legislator turned presidential aspirant launched the party officially at the People Power headquarters in Kamwokya Kampala, flanked by several political hotshots and right hand man Joel Ssenyonyi.
In the colourful function, Bibi Wine launched the National Unity Party’s symbol of an umbrella enclosed in circular national colours to replace the clenched fist in the midst of the Ugandan map which has been the symbol for the People Power. The People Power also launched party umbrellas in red and white colours with the People power’s dominant logo in full view.
Political commentators say the move by Bobi Wine to launch a political party, The National Unity Party is aimed at enabling him to get representation of his party in Parliament. In case his party gets the majority opposition MPs, this means that the Leader Of Opposition in parliament will be from his party in case he doesn’t win the presidency.
