Just as the country is devising ways of safeguarding the lives of its citizens through clearly following the health guidelines to curb the spread of the coronavirus that causes the deadly COVID 19 disease, Ugandan men of God have again come out to show their dissatisfaction with government’s continued closure of Places of worship. Pastors have come out to show how they badly need their sheep to gather in order to hold their routine services as they used to be.
Pastor David Kiganda fronted the demonstration which was unique in its kind as these anointed men of God dressed in sackcloth just as the people in the Bible’s Old testament used to do in times of showing grief upon the different occurrences.
Pastor Kiganda was also joined by other pastors who claimed that churches need to reopen so that faithful can converge again to pray for the nation.
The pastors’ conduct has however left the public with anger as some supported their cause while others trashed their act at such a time when the country is fighting hard to see that the speed of the spread of COVID-19 is stemmed. Media Personality Patrick Kanyomozi openly came out and mocked these pastors saying they were just portraying a high level of greed.
Pastors can't breathe. Our biology teachers never told us that one day offertory would replace oxygen. pic.twitter.com/E51IOQNhZF— Kanyomozi District (@PatriqKanyomozi) July 9, 2020
